Self-actualization is the process of realizing and fulfilling one's mental, emotional, physical, spiritual potential, where individuals strive to become the best version of themselves.
From a spiritual perspective, self-actualization is seen as a divine expression or manifestation of one's soul. It represents the integration of your authentic self and life purpose, deepening the understanding of your role in the universe.
This process often requires overcoming negative self-perceptions.
Negative self-perception is a distorted view of oneself that leads to feelings of inadequacy and unworthiness. For instance: "I am ugly and will not be able to find a husband/wife" ; "I am not deserving of support from my family" ; "I bother people and am a nuisance." These limiting beliefs can come from childhood experiences, societal pressures, and comparisons with others, often resulting in fear of failure and self-sabotage behaviors.
Through SRT, individuals can explore and reframe their discordant thoughts, feelings, and experiences. By identifying and challenging the validity of these perceptions, they can replace them with more empowering and authentic narratives about themselves.
These questions can serve as guidance for self-reflection or clearing:
What does being the best version of myself look like, and what qualities do I want to cultivate?
What energies are most prominent in the stories I tell myself?
What evidence do I have that contradicts my negative self-perception?
How do I define success for myself?
How do I define fulfillment for myself?
